I was online reading some of the responses to Iowa passing the bill, and there were a bunch of conservative people talking about how it shouldn't be up the legislature to pass that kind of law. I was thinking, wait, just 6 months ago, weren't you saying that legislature SHOULD decide something like that?! Everyone flip-flops, liberal, conservative, etc, but the response was humorous and sad at the same time. Makes me wonder when they're going to let it go and say, "you know what, the laws are in place, we'll live like we will, my neighbors getting married won't kill me; I will marry who I wish and have sex with anyone I want to, and raise my family the way I want, and they have the same rights, even though I disagree." the other day I was talking with my mom about my recent marriage and she was talking about how it wasn't recognized in Washington state, even though we're registered as domestic partners now, and brought up how sex before marriage was an abomination before god, so I started laughing and I said, "but mom, you don't want me to have the ability to be legal bound to Shane (my partner) so you can't argue that I’m immoral." she laughed too, but I’m hoping that I opened her eyes, Mormon or not, to the fact that religious groups can't sit here and point that we're "immoral" (even though that's not the case at all) without giving us some way to BE moral. The whole subject is very interesting....and very very sensitive, but I have so much faith that people see through all the different sides of any sort of propaganda. We'll keep fighting....

And I’m sending my mom my wedding announcement.Andy hedberghttp://glbtqrants.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7933447247868460052.post-20388629876086436792009-04-10T08:59:00.000-07:002009-04-10T08:59:00.000-07:00Yikes!
