Lesbians Everywhere

So, yesterday was the final blowout pool party and boy did those dykes let it all hang out. Some of the highlights included this butch below with her beer holsters--have you ever seen anything like this? Miller Lite should be having hot chicks walk around the pool parties with these holsters selling beer. Genius. We ran into readers/fans all weekend and one in particular took the cake. Dipstick and I were walking out of the White Party (see photo of White Party below) when all of the sudden we heard a chick scream. She was drunk, maybe on some sort of hallucinogen and super excited to see her favorite advice columnists.

"Oh my god," she yelled, "It's Lipstick & Dipshit." I kid you not! DIPSHIT. I literally doubled over in laughter and so did Dip. The woman was really embarrassed and tried to chalk it up to some sort of Freudian slip and has since apologized twice at the pool party, but I am holding on to this one. It will go down in history.

The pool party at the Doral Hotel was equally as crazy, so we hear from our fellow Palm Springs sorority sisters (aka those we are living with in this modern ranch-style rental house). They snapped a picture of a vagina walking around (no joke, it looks like a giant mussel) and apparently our friend "Georgia" dove into it. Evidence is coming soon. Come back for this pic later today.

Last night, after a long day in the sun, we laid low and went to a late sushi dinner with all the girls in our Palm Springs "sorority house." I was telling Dip that it's just like old times for me to be sharing a house with six other dykes, where we come and go, wear nothing by bikinis and always have a cocktail in hand. You can see some of our "sisters" in the pic here.

Dipstick will be writing more later about the things she did, which beyond hanging at the pool with me, included the L Word Press Conference, the L Word Be Scene event and some good ole' dyke Final Four basketball watching with our friend and publisher Frances Stevens. More later.

So, we bid Palm Springs adieu today and push off for West Hollywood, where we have a reading tonight.

COME SEE US! It's at 7:30 at A Different Light Bookstore (8853 Santa Monica Blvd.)

A Butch in the Sorority House

Five femmes and me in this Palm Springs rental house. I never knew you sorority sisters were such slobs! All weekend I’ve been picking up your empty beer bottles, Kit Kat wrappers and fast food containers. Which begs me to ask, how do you ladies stay so thin with a diet like that?

While Lipstick and her girls had their “Sorority Girls Gone Wild” weekend, this butch was much more subdued, playing the part of serious lesbian journalist. The highlight of the weekend, of course, being The L Word Press Conference with Rachael Shelley (Helena), Alexandra Hedison (Dylan), Elizabeth Keener (Dawn Denbo) and L Word creator Ilene Chaiken. (Note in picture where Keener’s hand is… I think she felt really at home at Dinah Shore!).

While Lipstick and her girls sucked down beers at the bar. (Again, how do they stay so skinny?!) I went to what was probably the funnest event of the weekend, the “Be Scene” event where women acted out scenes from The L Word. One of the girls in the house portrayed Helena in the scene where she loses a bet and has to sleep with that rich skank. Melissa did a great job, down to the accent. Celebrity judges Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey and Rachael Shelley were very impressed and the team took third place in the competition. Unfortunately, somehow those photos got accidentally erased from my camera. Very strange.

This butch must have partied too hard all weekend, because on Sunday I woke up with a roaring head cold. After a few hours at the pool, I headed home for a long nap. I did wake in time to catch the first two games of the Women’s Final Four. Franco, our Curve publisher and “Daddy” and I cheered our Stanford girls to victory. Dionne and Franco tried to drag me to the closing night party at Hunters, but with my voice giving out and my nose stuffing up, I returned back to the sorority house and crashed almost immediately, tired, but with a smile on my face.

Day Two Dyke-Cap

"Good God!" Nana would say, "I had no idea there were this many lesbians in the world!" That's what my Nana would say if she had been at the Wyndham Pool Party yesterday with Dipstick and I.

We sold some books, some t-shirts and did a lot of people watching. Those lezzies are crazy! And the more hooch they consume, let me tell you: GIRLS GONE WILD. Dipstick and I should produce a series called LEZZIES GONE WILD.

We went to a great comedy show last night, which included stand-up by Kate McKinnon (see short video below) and improv with Michelle Paradise. Our friend, Suzanne Westenhoefer, emceed. The pic is of Michelle Paradise "interrogating" a dyke from the audience (very funny). This special will air on Logo later this summer.

From the Dinah Shore Trenches

As we set off on Dinah Shore Day Two, Dipstick and I are already exhausted. Even though the real fun starts today, Dipstick and I managed to get into some trouble yesterday and last night. CURVE didn't arrive until yesterday so we didn't have to work a booth peddling books; instead, we got to lay out at the Doral pool at CLUB SKIRT'S party for a couple hours (I'm burned) and then do an interview with Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show's Julie Goldman. Her sidekick for the interviews was Kate McKinnon, who I adored.

Our friend Dionne snapped these pics--she couldn't use a flash so they'e a little blurry. We talked to Julie about why some women taste like parmesean cheese (we don't know this answer), about how Julie tastes like a ceaser salad (don't ask) and how you should NEVER reach for the lube during sex if there is a chance Bengay is on the night stand (note to self).

Dipstick and I were lucky enough to get a slot on the impressive celesbian interviews they had lined up. Those that came before and after us included: Ilene Chaiken, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Jane Lynch, Michelle Paradise, Dani Campbell, Elizabeth Keener and others. We brushed shoulders with Elizabeth (aka Dawn Dimbo from this season's L Word, the surly owner of She Bar who had the infamous "lover Cindy" who Shane fucked) and Jane Lynch who came shortly after us.

Last night, Dip and I met the CURVE girls for the Girlbar VIP reception at the swanky Hotel Zoso, where we drank poolside surrounded by women in white illumniated by red spotlights. It was a hosted bar and the food was great. Afterwards, we hit the PURE White Party and danced for a spell before Belinda Carlisle came on stage and rocked out.

Dipstick Reporting from Dinah Shore

We came all the way to Palm Springs and Lipstick decided to stay back at the house and nap. Well, not Dipstick. I headed out with my friend Dionne, first to see Suzanne Westenhoefer, our favorite comedian--vote for her on Curve magazine. I ran into my old friend Cindi who I met at Dinah Shore four years ago. We all hung out backstage after Suzanne’s concert with our esteemed publisher Frances Stevens, Dinah producer Mariah Hanson, Elizabeth Keener (Dawn Denbo from The L Word) and Jill Bennett from Dante’s Cove. It was a regular celesbian-fest back there. We stayed until they kicked us out.

Next stop, the Logo Lounge for some first class lounging with cute women from all over, including Girls in Wonderland Producers Alison and Michelle.

After a brief stop for some nourishment, Dionne and I headed out to the opening night dance party at Zelda’s night club. We danced a bit, Dionne slipped a few dollars in the dancers shorts and then I made her bring me home so I could rest up for today.

We're Here, We're Queer, We're in Palm Springs

Dip and I flew from cold Portland today to the sunny oasis in the desert Palm Springs. We took off at the butt crack of dawn (Dipstick booked the flights!) and got into San Diego during the breakfast hour. I snapped this shot after I woke from my cruising 34,000 feet nap.

We drove two hours through the Califronia hills until we hit the heat and the parched hills of the Southwest.

Right now, I'm typing this by the pool drinking a cold Corona. Such a rough life... The real work starts tomorrow when we work the CURVE booth whoring our books for hours on end, trying to sell as many copies as we can to skantily clad drunk chicks. I know, it's not easy being us...

Cheers,
Lipstick

Dinah Shore: Here We Come!

Lipstick is getting her bikini line waxed and I'm trying to decide which pair of board shorts I should wear to the L Word Pool Party. Tomorrow we head out to Dinah Shore where will be attending BOTH the Club Skirts and the Girl Bar festivities.

For those of you who don't know what Dinah Shore is, well, it started as a little LPGA Golf Tournament. But now it's one of the best known and hottest lesbian parties in the world. Picture scantily clad, slightly inebriated lesbians crowded around a tiny pool while disco music thumps and go-go dancers sweat on raised platforms.

It's not all and drinking and debauchery, though. Our favorite comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer is performing Thursday night and Leisha Hailey and her band Uh-Huh-Her will be rocking out at the White Diamonds Party. Across town Belinda Carlisle and The Go Go's vacation at The Pure White Party. The there's Pat Benatar and Colbie Caillat, a competition to act out your favorite L Word scene. And oh, did we mention Kate Moenning, Ilene Chaiken and Jane Lynch? I have a feeling I'm going to be chasing down one party after another. Wish us luck. I know, it's a hard life as a traveling lesbian journalist.

If you're going to be in Palm Springs this weekend, look for us at the Curve magazine booth somewhere near the pool at the Girl Bar event. Plus, Lipstick and I will be making the rounds, looking for the hottest scene, the nicest girls and anyone who will buy us a drink.
