The Best Halloween Costume 2009

So, I've decided to give the award this year to a group of people my parents spotted in Whitefish, Montana (which, oddly enough has been voted on of the best places to go for Halloween). On main street, they have several big bars that hold huge costume contests that bring people from all over the country.

The winner this year at the Bulldog was irresistibly and grossly original.

They were [wait for it]........

A PILE OF SHIT.

Happy Halloween!

We homos love Halloween--especially the queens. Give us a reason to celebrate and decorate our bars to the hilt and we're there.

Dipstick and I are sending our best to you this Halloween. If you dress up this weekend, send us a photo of you and we'll post them here! ask@lipstickdipstick.com

PS: Don't try and emulate the one my Nana sent me below (this isn't her by the way--she just has a great sense of humor) or do!

A Walk Down Halloween Memory Lane...

Lipstick LOVES Halloween. Down in the garage, there are two huge boxes of costumes I've collected through the years. Also, as a former sorority girl, I seemed to have doubled my collection during my college years. Greeks are always finding a reason to dress up (and drink).

Here are some old photos of Lipstick through her formative years on Halloween.

Really Mom and Dad, you had no idea I was gay--even when I dressed up like a punker dyke and entered that contest?

Oh yeah, and as a football player? What straight girl dresses up as a quarterback?

In these photos, are some my oldest friends. If you look carefully, you might be able to pair them with their mug shot from the trouble we got into last summer.

Believe it or not, the sweet little witchy costumed girl sitting next to "Chief Lipstick" in preschool is actually "Tatum" in the mugshot. We're not sure how she got from sweet little preschooler to rocking rambler.

Halloween : The Gayest Holiday of the Year

I was in San Francisco a number of years back for Halloween and oh ma gawd, I couldn't believe what happened in the Castro that night. Actually, the costumes and gaiety began way before the sun went down. There were herds of men dressed up like Celine Dion with the Heart of the Ocean (this was right after Titanic won the Oscar), squads of fagalicious cheerleaders stopping traffic on Market (not a good idea!) to do an impromptu pyramid and cheer (the standard: "We're here, we're queer, we like it in the bum so get used to it dumb dumb.")

What are you dressing up as for Halloween this year? Feel free to steal Dipstick's idea. Here she is in her costume. You like?

Whatever you do, remember to brush your teeth before going to bed (even if you're sleeping with candy under your pillow or within arm's reach), be nice to teenagers who come to your front door in masks (they usually have eggs with them for meanies) and vote for Barack Obama on Tuesday!

Happy Halloween from Lipstick & Dipstick!

Halloween Recap

Waaa waaa

Halloween is over and holy hell did we have a ton of trick-r-treaters last night. Texas and I think we had at least 75 kids, several of which (young ones) were too afraid to walk all the way to the front door. We also had a strange Asian couple (along with their very old mother) ring our doorbell around 8:30 with no costumes on. If they hadn't been with grandma, I would have assumed they were on shrooms of ecstasy or some sort of other hallucinogenic. All they did was laugh as I put KitKats in their pockets. The last group of the night, a gaggle of older boys (they always freak us out and are the reason we end up locking the door) stole a piece of our Halloween fixings in the front yard. Sadly, the arm sticking from the bushes (which I've had since college) will no longer be a part of future Halloweens. Bastards!

I suppose, however, it's payback for something I did in my younger years when, believe it or not, I used to be quite the hellion. I know, hard to believe, right? Well believe it. Pinion and Marbles and I used to raise Cain like you wouldn't believe...

The video is of our front porch.

Halloween Countdown :: It's Here!

It's finally arrived! Halloween is upon us.

Are you guys ready for tonight? Texas and I are: In our front yard, there is a lit tombstone with crime tape around it, lots of cob webs (we went heavy this year), scary music, a strobe light, ghost luminaries and a fog machine. Young kids are going to cry when they walk up to our house, but remember it fondly years later when they work through their fear of Halloween (thanks to us) in therapy.

Beyond the decorations, I think it's important to remember the true meaning on Halloween today. Originating from the Pagan festival Samhain, Halloween is by far the gayest holiday of the year, a night when even the most heterosexual meathead out there can throw on a skirt and apply his wife's lipstick (which he's always been curious about). So, dress up, little homos and bisexual kittens. It's our night to shine.

The pics: a group of friendly dyke dynamos dressed up, a pair of our brothers as the Ambiguously Gay Duo, and a great Halloween decorating idea. Lil' Minx brought this ghostly graveyard of lollipops over. They make a great hostess gift.

Send us your Halloween pics.

Halloween Countdown :: Two Days and Counting

Last evening, our cat, Shamus O'Henry helped Texas and I put up our scary orange Halloween lights on the front porch. He was a big help. Tomorrow it's all about the spider webs.

Halloween Countdown :: Three Days Left

Boo!

I'm super excited because this week is Halloween and it's one of my absolute favorite holidays. I've already got my costume ready (don't tell Texas*, but I'm going to be a naughty cop). Her costume is also a secret. Not only do we always get dressed up for the kids who knock on our door (they bus them into our neighborhood), but I trick out the front yard for days. Stay tuned for more details about that this week.

We carved our punkins last night. Mine is attached.

If you haven't gotten into the spirit yet, the time is now! Git on it.

* Texas is Lipstick's wife.
