Portia DeGeneres

Speaking of Ellen, Portia has petitioned the court to legally change her name to Portia Lee James DeGeneres. Apparently, it's her 2nd anniversary gift to El. How sweet is that?

People magazine reports that it won't go into affect until the courts will hold a hearing in Sept.

Love it.

You can read more about it here.

Ellen DeGeneres Sat Here

I was at a garage sale this weekend and came across these chairs. I thought they would be good for my deck. The guy was selling them for $7 each. Way too much. I offered $10 for all four. He countered with $15 and I accepted.

As I was getting ready to load the chairs into my car, he told me Ellen DeGeneres sat in one of them. He said he used to work as a waiter at the Heathman, a high-end hotel in Portland. Ellen and Ann Heche were having drinks on the patio and invited him to come back when his shift was over and have a drink. He said Ellen was very nice.

I was glad to hear that, but I told him he could keep the Ann Heche chair.

Ellen Hates America?

I used to love Family Feud when I was a kid. I was sure our family would kick some serious a** if we were ever on the show. Back in the day, the topics were things like "Things you might find at the Drive-In" or "Things Your Mother Might Say."

I guess the Family Feud is all grown up now. One of the topics recently was "Things Everyone Knows about Ellen DeGeneres." Apparently, this one guy thinks that everyone knows Ellen doesn't really like this country. Wouldn't you love to ask this dweeb to explain himself? I love how Ellen handles it.

DVR Alert: Judy Shepard on Ellen

Judy Shepard, the mother of slain Wyoming student Matthew Shepard will be on the Ellen DeGeneres show this friday. Judy has worked tirelessly for gay and lesbian rights since the beating death of Matthew ten years ago for being gay.

Ellen has been more and more out about gay rights issues on her show, especially hate crimes, bullying in the schools and gay marriage. I am so proud of her for having Judy Shepard on the show. I hope they both talk about the fact that although this horrible crime happened 10 years ago, violence against gays and lesbians continues. It needs to start in our schools. Kids need to learn to respect one another and learn that gay bullying is unacceptable.

Thank you Ellen for taking a stand.

Ellen to Replace Paula on American Idol

There is a god and she's listening!

I don't know how many American Idol fans are out there, but I suspect, there are soon to be many more lesbians. It was announced yesterday that Ellen Degeneres will take Paula Abdul's seat on the American Idol panel for the upcoming season of American Idol. She will join Randy Jackson, the delicious and ridiculously talented songwriter Kara Dioguardi and Simon "Scowl."

I heard this on CNN right before I went to bed last night and dreamt of rainbows and butterflies. Apparently, she Tweeted the news. Of her new gig, Ellen told People Magazine:

"I'm going to have a day job and a night job," DeGeneres said at her talk show taping Wednesday, assuring her audience that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will continue. "This is so exciting for me."

Ellen is Genius: Tulane Commencement Address

As you know Lipstick & I are big Ellen fans. Over the weekend she gave the commencement address at Tulane University. In it, she reminds us why we love her so much. She is so inspiring and she delivers a great message that makes us laugh.

Ellen Dishes Some Therapy

Recenlty dumped Lindsay Lohan was on Ellen yesterday and Ellen didn't let the pink elephant in the room go unnoticed (Ellen is so bold these days! Go E!). Lindsay, who seemed unhealthily thin, was kind of mess. She put on a brave face, but you could see and hear differently. She doesn't have any clue who she is and she's lost. I was expecting something a little more confident and hardened. She was like a little girl. It made me feel sorry for her.

Ellen and Britney go Caroling

If you missed the Ellen show this week, you'll get a huge Christmas kick out of this. She and Britney head to the streets of Hollywood and knock on doors Christmas caroling. Can you imagine opening the door and having it be Britney Spears and Ellen Degeneres? Classic!

Ellen Takes a Stand for Gay Marriage :: You Can Too!

Okay, this Prop 8 thing in California is really heating up. The anti's are funneling millions of dollars into California to try and take the newly acquired right of marriage away from same-sex couples. We can't let this happen!

Ellen DeGeneres has made a PSA and posted it on her TV show's website. Don't you just love how political Ellen is getting!!

I could make a PSA, but it probably won't get that many views, so instead, I'm going to volunteer to help ensure Prop 8 does not pass. Won't you join me?

Ellen + Portia Wedding Details

Hey ya'll

Not sure if you watch Ellen religiously, but in case you missed her show earlier this week when she shared their private wedding video and photos with her audience, you can catch a glimpse of it here. She got really emotional at one point and even danced with Portia. When Ellen said we get to see their second dance, she went into the audience and boogied down with Portia, which is cut from the first video. You can see it further below.

Enjoy! Love you Ellen!

Ellen + Portia's Wedding Album

The photos from Ellen and Portia's wedding will soon hit newsstands. They gave an exclusive interview to People magazine about their blessed event. New details are sure to emerge, too, and I just read that Wayne Dyer (one of my all-time favorite authors and inspirers) officiated the ceremony. Lucky girls and lucky him. Apparently, all the guests sat on floor pillows while the couple exchanged Neil Lane rings and then sat down for an all-vegan menu.

I'm sure there was hummus!

Ellen and Portia Get Married

Ding dong the witch is dead. Oh wait, I meant ding dong Ellen and Portia are married! In an intimate ceremony last night, attended by 19 lucky souls, the two exchanged handwritten vows in their home. I hope they share the pictures with the rest of the world. It will surely get massive mainstream coverage and, considering how beloved Ellen is by even the straightest of straights, it could only do our community good.

Here are Ellen's vows (as Lipstick’s would imagine them):

Portia, my beautiful sex goddess
Oh, how I love your tits
And your super funny bits
on that TV show Ally McDancing Baby
and then on that other show whose name is escaping me
I want to spend my life with you
Cooking and picking up our dogs do do
Having potlucks with Melissa and Tammy
And dressing up in diamonds for the Emmys
Will you be my ageless, blushing bride
And get on my Harley for a ride
So we can enjoy being the queen lesbians together
And always be two birds of a feather
Eating hummus and listening to folk tunes
As we lay in bed in a perfect spoon
For hours and hours and hours
And hours and hours and hours
Scratching each other’s backs and toes
While being the perfect pair of homos
Who all the lezbots adore and only the best
Will you join me in making the perfect lezz-nest?

Rumor has it, she said yes! CONGRATS ELLEN AND PORTIA!

Ellen + John McCain

Since we're engaged in this political expose, let's not forget the little chat that Ellen Degeneres had with John McCain a few months ago about gay marriage. We posted this back in May, but thought it was appropriate to revisit it.

Ellen + Portia to Marry

If you haven't heard, Ellen and Portia are engaged. Go Ellen. She's all about gay rights and issues these days.

Ellen Calls Homophobe on Her Show

Many of you have probably already heard about Oklahoma Republican state Senator Sally Kern's anti-gay rant, but leave it to Ellen to call the politician during her show this week. Check it out. When did Ellen become so political? We're proud of you Ellen!

Ellen Gets Political

Normally, Ellen steers pretty clear of gay issues, but she took time out of her show to talk about a young boy who was murdered for being gay by a fellow eighth grader. Check out her touching, heartfelt message.

Go Ellen!

Ellen & Puppy Saga Part 2

I just can't get enough of this Ellen and the case of the misplaced puppy. On the one hand, I have sympathy for Ellen, she was just trying to do what she thought was right and give this doggie a good home. But on the other hand, she did sign a contract that must have said something about her not just placing this dog in a new home. Who are the real victims here? The poor little girls? The puppy? Ellen? Or the pet rescue organization. Weigh in with your comments below.

Ellen DeGeneres and the Puppy

While Lipstick is posting all those cute animal stories. I thought I'd throw in a tragedy. It seems Ellen DeGeneres, famed lesbian and animal lover, has put a poor puppy’s life in jeopardy. She’s remorseful. But can the puppy be saved?
