She's here in British Columbia for the Olympics!

You'll never believe this, but I spotted Jennifer today up in the mountains and she--of course--obliged in letting me take her picture.

It's so crazy how often I see her around this city. And Dipstick runs into her in Portland, too. J Beals must love the Pacific NW as much as we do.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for her out and about during the Olympics. You never know, I just might spot her again...

At the beach! Enjoying the last few days of this Indian summer.

I couldn't believe it when I ran past this woman sunbathing on the Spanish Banks yesterday.

I thought: that's funny, that is the same suit Jenny from the Block Kinkies had on last week.

Sho nuff, it was our girl. JB is used to the drill now and let me snap a quickie.

Where in the World is Jennifer Beals?

What are the odds of this? I was binding a manuscript at Kinkies this morning and there was Jennifer Beals AGAIN!

This time, she posed for a picture. She said she was happy to oblige as long as there is no more cannibalizing.

Apparently, Beals was headed to the beach, as it's going to be a beautiful day here in Vancouver (and that good ole' sunshine is fleeting in the NW).

In Vancouver, BC, where she filmed the girl-on-girl drama the L Word.

I spotted her yesterday at the copy/expedited mail house of all places. We were standing at the counter together and I was admiring her daughter (so cute), having no idea it was the infamous high-femme pseudo power dyke. I finally looked up and nearly said "Oh my god, it's Bette Porter."

I didn't. Just smiled, stepped back and admired her from a few feet away as she FedExed a box.

Like a freak fan, I snapped a couple photos with my Crackberry, but you can't see her face. I thought I'd post them up here for shits and giggles. They were the best photos I could get without looking stalker-ish and she is notoriously private so I didn't want to bother her. They're far better than the ones I took of the L Word's Rachel Shelley last summer.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for her around Vancouver and hopefully get some more about what she's up to since the L Word. Stay tuned...

UPDATE – Sunday, Sept 20

On the off chance Jennifer Beals stumbles across our little blog, we’ve decided to censor these photos as to not offend (even though you can hardly tell it’s her and we purposefully took these photos so you couldn’t see her daughter’s face). We admire Jennifer Beals and certainly wouldn't want any harm to her or make her life more difficult.

If by random coincidence we cross paths with her again, we'll go up, tell her we loved her on the L Word and ask her to pose for a pic.

L Word Comeback

Did you love the L Word? Have you always wanted to be on TV? Are you a lezzie? Do you live in LA? If you answered yes to all these questions, you'll have to check out Showtime's new reality show that just got the greenlight--The Real L Word: Los Angeles. This is no joke. Showtime announced it today.

The show will follow six LA-based lesbians in their daily lives. Just by looking at the title, I'm sure it will also morph into other cities, just like we've seen in the viral "Real Housewives" series.

It should be a hootenanny full of tanning salons, tall martinis and lots of dyke drama.

L Word Auction

OMG, Patty and I went to the preview yesterday for today's' L Word Auction and it was so interesting. We walked around the huge set, which was torn down (it's where they filmed the show!) but they had all the stuff from the show they were auctioning off organized for perusal.

They had the furniture broken down by character.
I got to sit in Jenny and Shane's living room and touch Bette and Tina's bed. :) It was so much fun and we've got our eyes on a few things in particular. Stay tuned to find out what we pick up today at the live auction.

The biggest discovery was that they shot everything in this huge warehouse set. They dug out Bette and Tina's pool, built the rooms and front of the house--everything! All of that was torn down, but you could see the outline from where they filled in the pool. Did you think that was filled in a real backyard? So crazy the smoke and mirrors of film.


Some notable things we saw:

• Kits car (she was driving when she got the DUI)
• A huge box of Shane's Hugo Boss underwear
• The coffee machine and everything else from the Planet
• Even Dana's urn where they "put her ashes"
• A fake "Awake Angelica" doll

L Word Premiere Recap

What a fun night Dipstick and I had emceeing and entertaining the crowd who'd gathered at the Bagdad Theater on Sunday. Thank you all for coming out to support HRC.

About 700 women showed up (it sold out once again) to ring in the final season of the L Word, a season opener which began with the shocking death of the wildly loathed Jenny Schecter (played by actor Mia Kershner). Collectively, we raised thousands of dollars for HRC.

We played some super fun games. The first: pin the pasties on Jennifer Beals. In the picture here, Lipstick is measuring how far the candy pasties were from her nipples. The second game we played was the dildo ring toss. Here, Dipstick is rooting on one of our contestants.

It was so much fun and we will truly miss our L Word sisters!

Obammmmmmmma!

Woot!!!! It's offish: Barack Obama has taken over power! It's a sunny day here in Portland, Oregon and there is a buzz in the air, as there is across the country. Change has finally arrived!

Dip and I have been busy these past few days (hence why we've been MIA) doing several things. On Saturday, we were in an all-day photo shoot with Curve. Photographer Maggie Parker captured the next six columns coming up in Curve. (Two upcoming shoots are pinned here.)

On Sunday, Dipstick and I emceed the L Word Premiere Party at the Bagdad Theater. We entertained the crowd before the season opener of the final season of the L Word. Those pics will be posted tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Lipstick & Dipstick return to the airwaves and will appear again on the Out Loud show on KBOO in Portland on Tuesday January 13th.  If you live in Portland, tune into FM 90.7 from 6-7pm. We'll be talking about our upcoming gig hosting The L Word 6th Season Premier at the Bagdad Theatre. If you don't live in Portland, don't worry, the show will be available to download. 

Also, this Sunday 1/11/09 Dipstick will appear on Sisters Talk radio. You can listen in live on your computer at 3pm (PST)  and even call in to talk to me. Come hang out! It will be a blast.

L Word Siting

So, Pattycake and I were having dinner last night at Trattoria and enjoying ourselves. We were laughing about something silly as we shared a bottle of Barbara when suddenly I caught someone I recognized out of the corner of my eye. I stopped, took another sip and looked closer, and wouldn't you know it was HELENA from the L Word eating a couple tables away with three guys.

The L Word is shooting here in Vancouver right now and I wondered if I might happen up one of the cast members. Well, lucky me--I got to run into one of my very favorite characters Rachel Shelley. I'm not the star struck type and I certainly would never have approached Rachel, but I'll have you know I did consider it for you guys so I could get a picture. I decided, instead, just to enjoy my meal and the backdrop and snap this completely unintelligible photo with my Crackberry as we were leaving. You can read an interview CURVE did with Rachel here.

And just FYI, she's just as hot in person without makeup. Smokin'!

Paris Coming to the L Word

Did you all hear that Paris will be on next season's L Word? It's true. Read this article in Parade Magazine and see for yourself. Apparently, she not only loves lesbians (maybe not in the way we want her to), but she also plays ice hockey???

Weekend Good Times

Dipstick and I had a very busy weekend. On Saturday, we emceed Hot Flash Dance Party, which was a ton of fun. I'd never been to a Portland Hot Flash before and was very pleasantly surprised at a what fun we had. A very warm reception by the crowd and its organizers (here we are with a fellow femme/one of promoters, Brenda). And we also almost sold out of books!

Yesterday, we spent much of the day doing a CURVE Magazine photo shoot with our beloved photographer, Maggie Parker (itsmaggie@gmail.com) and CURVE Executive Editor, Diane Anderson Minshall.

And then last night, what a treat: Tina and Bette! If you haven't seen the L Word, do NOT read on...

FINALLY! What a delicious way to end last night's episode! That Jennifer Beals is such a stellar actor. And that kiss...DAMN!
